When best friends Max and Diane become cynical about the dating scene, they jokingly agree to marry each other if they haven?t found their true love in one year?s time. Max is secretly thrilled having fallen for his buddy years ago. Unfortunately for Max, Diane discovers her soul mate soon after making the vow and happily makes her wedding plans. Torn between being crushed on one hand, but happy for Diane, Max forces himself to the wedding. But fate has other plans for Max. As he symbolically picks a flower for the bride, he is struck by tragedy in the form of the wedding limo and rushed to the hospital. In a haze of unconsciousness, he shares the details of his promises of the heart to his female paramedic, presenting the flower to her.
